Blue Mandolins
Martin Cambriglia
Martin Cambriglia's pictorial research is rooted in Italian futurism and in dreamlike surrealism with particular attention to a continuous dialogue between visual and musical language. The fluidity of the sign and its rhythm, the broken and re-harmonized equilibria are based on different techniques, they all flow together to create a lyrical but profoundly powerful image.
Martin Cambriglia states, "that with this painting I wanted to give more warmth to the pure geometric study by enriching the combination of volumes and shapes with small decorative pauses, creating a constant rhythm and scan in the visual transition between one shape and another. I chose mandolins because with their roundness they convey more softness to me like the horizontal format which creates more rest and develops like the development of a score."
